The Benefits of Breaks

February 5, 2024 David Schuit

Do you struggle to retain what you have just read? Are you spending hours studying? Are you actually retaining anything?

If not, consider taking a break when studying. Breaks have been proven to help you refocus on the material which will support retention. Breaks can help if they have a purpose, some examples of purposeful breaks are:

· A 10-15 walk outside.

· Eating a snack and drinking water

· Moving around the house

· Cleaning

· Stretching

· Deep breathing

It is best to leave the study space in order to allow the brain to reset, a change of scenery will allow the brain to process information and refocus. Not every type of break will work for everyone, try out different methods and see what works.
